The first price wins the job

After a knock, the customer tries three body shops. The one that gives a range the same day takes the job, even if it isn't the cheapest: what the customer wants above all is to be reassured and to know where they stand.

The online enquiry asks for photos from several angles, the model, the year and how it happened. You price from your phone, between two jobs, and you answer before the others do.

  • Guided photos asked for with the quote request
  • Range sent without the car coming in
  • Assessment appointment bookable online

Insurance file built in one go

Half the paperwork is gathering the same few things: the accident details, photos, the claim number, the loss adjuster's contact. When they arrive one message at a time, the file drags on for a week.

The form collects everything at the start, and the file stays attached to the vehicle. Exchanges with the customer are recorded, the documents are to hand, and the work is booked in as soon as the insurer agrees.

A real example

Accident details, photos and claim number all in on the day of the enquiry: the insurer agrees in three days instead of ten, and the car goes into the booth on the Monday.

Booth days and the courtesy car

In body repair the constraint is the booth and the drying time. A car that stays three days takes up a bay; two jobs sequenced badly and the shop is blocked all week.

Time off the road is booked in days on the schedule, with the courtesy car allocated at the same moment. The customer knows their collection date before they hand over the keys.

  • Repairs booked in days, not in slots
  • Courtesy cars allocated on the same schedule
  • Collection date given at drop-off

Kept informed, so they don't ring

A customer with no news rings every day, and every call costs the front desk ten minutes. They aren't worried about the work: they want to know when they get the car back.

They get the stages: car booked in, parts arrived, in the paint booth, ready to collect, with a photo if you want. The review request goes out at handover, when the car looks good.

“We price from photos the same day. We're taking jobs we used to lose for being too slow.”

Common questions

It doesn't replace the assessment: it's a range, given as a range, that lets the customer decide and bring you the car. The adjustment comes after stripping down, with an extra quote approved in writing.
